Card Box

Well, I've been working on some Christmas gifts for my family. I got a late start since I had carpul tunnel surgery 2 weeks ago on my right hand ,of course, I'm right handed. It's been an experience getting used to using my left hand. Any ways, doing much better now.
Well, back to my Card Box, I made this for my sister-in-law for Christmas. I made her a gift bag and personalized calendar last year and she just loved them. So I showed her some of my cards I had made and she wanted some. So I thought what a nice gift of a card box filled with cards.
All I did was cover a box that I have, and believe me I have a lot of boxes. I have several of these empty envelope boxes and they are perfect to cover and make into card boxes. On the inside I'm going to make tabs for the different cards. I used one of Stampin' Up's Simply Scrappin' package. Those are great to do projects like this. All the papers and stickers coordinate.

Well, I'm off to finish some more cards and to start on my mom's box.



It's my mom's birthday today. Happy Birthday Mom!

Year of Cards Swap

It has been hectic around here and I just haven't been able to stamp. I finally made myself sit down and finish cards for the Year of Cards swap that I was participating in. Here is one of them. Masculine card......

I love these straight edge scallop punches. They are so easy to use and line up. I have a couple now. I have this one from Fiskars and a few Martha Stewarts punches. I'll be doing some cards using her punches and will post here shortly.

I'm working on some quick cards to give as gifts for friends and relatives. They are always asking me for cards and so I decided that I'm going to make them a nice card box with dividers and cards inside. I thought that would be a nice gift for Christmas. I have a ton of cards from swaps and convention (way back when) that I'm going to use to fill up these boxes. I'll post when I get them done.

Brown & ? Swap

Well, I been doing a little bit of stamping and creating. After shoulder surgery it's been hard to get back into the groove again. Once I get started I can't stop, but I have to because my shoulder starts hurting. Oh well, I'll work through it. I participated in a Brown & ? swap and I wanted to share what I created. I love to make cards with brown. It's just an elegant color.

Here's my first card. I love doing this style of card.

Supplies used: Card Size 3 1/2 x 5 1/2 scored at 6" (leave 1/2" at end to attach ribbon) I used the Double Circle Punch to make the holes to attach the ribbon.
Stamp Set: Lots of Thoughts

Ink: Basic Brown
Punches: Square Punch, Word Window Punch, Double Circle Punch
Paper: Sierra Sand CS, Old Olive CS, White CS, We R Memory Makers DSP

Accessories: Olive Brads, Olive Grosgrain Ribbon

My second Brown & ? card is this cute Happy Birthday card. It's nice for a boy. I don't have many boy birthday cards and I thought this came together nicely.

Supplies used: Card size 5 1/2 x 4 1/4

Paper: White CS, Basic Brown CS, Barely Banana CS and We R Memory Makers DSP

Ink: Basic Brown

Punches: Scallop Circle, 1 1/4" Circle, 1 3/4" Circle

Accessories: 3/8" Brown Satin Ribbon, 1/4" Lt. Blue Grosgrain Ribbon

White CS cut 5 1/2 x 8 1/2

Brown CS cut 5 x 4

DSP cut 3 3/4 x 2 1/4

On Barely Banana CS, I first punched the 1 3/4" Circle and then centered the Scallop Circle Punch to get my scalloped cut circle. Stamped my Happy Birthday image on white CS and then centered my 1 1/4" circle punch. Assembly: Taped the Brown CS onto the White CS. Took my DS Paper and taped one end of my brown ribbon on the back edge about 1/2" in and then wraped around to the other edge and taped about 1/2" and trimmed ribbon off. Taped DS Paper to Brown CS and centering. Took a small piece of brown ribbon and lt blue ribbon and knotted on brown ribbon I taped around the DS paper. Then put dabs of tape or you can use glue stick to tape the scallop circle down. Center the white Happy Birthday circle in center. And there you have it, a cute Birthday Card.

Last week I was making some of my Gift Box Cards and here is one of the Birthday cards I made. I printed 2 copies of my Gift Box Card templates and one copy I cut the top part off to give me the template for the lid. I cut the lid part from Cutie Pie DS paper and taped it to my white cs that I cut my Gift Box Card. Used a black gel pen to draw the lines and stamped my Birthday Greeting. How easy is that! And how cute it turned out.

Tip of the Day or Idea or Organization Idea

Good Morning. I've been going through my templates and instruction sheets for different cards that I have gone to workshops. I just have them scattered all over the place. I do try and keep them in one place but you know how that goes. I had started this a long time ago but just never finished it or kept it up. Since I got frustrated the other day looking for my Gift Box Card template and instructions, I decided I have to get all these organized. So I found my gigantic notebook I had started and made my template for my Gift Box Card and put it in my page protector. I'm going to Walmart to see if I can find some of the quilting plastic that quilters use to make their templates so I can make my templates for my paper crafts. What I did for my gift box card, I taped my paper template to some thin cardboard and cut it out. The paper template is taped to the top of the cardboard cut out and so I can see the folds the lines that I need to draw. So put a copy of the paper template, my cardboard cut out and a sample of the card all into the page protector. So now I have a sample and the instructions and template all in one place. I don't have colored printer, otherwise I would have just included a colored print of the sample card. How do you keep your templates and instructions organized?
My Tip: When I get templates that I want to keep and use over and over again. I cut out my template onto cardboard or I buy plastic sheets in the quilting dept at my local fabric/quilt store to make templates. And I keep my cut out, paper copy and instructions in a page protector in my large notebook. And I have all my templates in one place for a quick reference.

Christmas Gift Box Card

Well, getting back to stamping after shoulder surgery 2 weeks ago. Still going through therapy but I'm able to move my arm much better now.

I was going through my card stash and found this oldie but goody Gift Box Card. I think I'm going to make some of these this year for Christmas. They are also great for Birthday cards.
